Sarah & Mike saw each other in the light of friendship & often enjoyed each others company. They spent their time together searching for the best plate of Mexican food in Washington, D.C, trotting the globe & just being together. Then, somewhere down that path that Sarah & Mike called friendship, they fell in love. Madly. Deeply. Simply. Their mutual zest for life & their love for each other was something that was nothing short of perfect. And, as destiny would have it, one night Mike surprised Sarah with a sweet serenade & a knockout diamond ring. She happily said yes!
I spent the afternoon before their wedding with Sarah & Mike shooting all of their bride & groom photographs. It was so fun for me to get to know them & to hear the story of how they fell in love. And, it was fabulous to have all the time in the world to shoot photographs of them before their wedding day. I love love looooooooove when a bride & groom opt to see each other before their wedding….it is always so relaxing & it gives the bride & groom more time to spend with their families after their ceremony. And it gives them sooooo many more photographs! I highly recommend it to all my future brides.
Their wedding was on an unusually warm August day & multitudes of family & friends gathered outside the gorgeous Oakland Temple to celebrate Sarah & Mike’s happy occasion. The pink roses were all in bloom as if they knew the color choice that Sarah had picked out for her wedding! Just like Sarah & Mike’s dating & engagement had been perfect, their wedding day was no different. They had family & friends who traveled from Washington, D.C & even from Scotland to celebrate their amazing day. It truly was a testament to how many people admire & love Sarah & Mike! I loved the details from their wedding-from Sarah’s custom designed dress & birdcage veil, to their sweet & delicious pink wedding cake, all the way down to the trivia cards & See’s candy boxes handed out at their reception.
Sarah & Mike- I loved getting to know you both & I had a blast photographing you on your special day! Thanks so much for being up for anything-it made for some awesome photographs! I know that you will both enjoy a fabulous life because of your easy-going & adventurous spirits. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to document your perfect day! If you are ever on the West Coast, give me a call & we’ll go out for Mexican food! With much love & appreciation…xoxo, marielle.

Their reception was held at the gorgeous Claremont Counrty Club. Soooooooo beautiful & classy…

The person wearing the kilt in the photo below was a friend of Sarah’s family who flew all the way from Scotland to play the bagpipes for their special day!

I‘ve been super-mega-insane busy & loving every minute of it! Tomorrow I will be posting the entire post from Sarah & Mike’s incredible wedding, but here’s a sneak peek of three fabulous events I’ve been lucky enough to shoot!
A gorgeous fall wedding from Saturday…

My little sister’s perfect wedding…

And one smokin’ hot engagement session in Chicago!

Stay tuned for more~!
Llooooooooove maternity sessions. They are so much fun & I think it’s fabulous to be able to document such a special time in a woman’s life. I remember the way I felt when I was expecting a baby- the feeling of excitement, nervousness & amazement at the fact that I was going to be a mommy! In fact, it was almost two years ago when I was just like Krissy, waiting & waiting for my little baby to make her appearance!
Krissy was so much fun to photograph because she was so gorgeous with her little belly! She & her husband are looking forward to the arrival of their little boy in October! I can’t wait to photograph their sweet baby boy in a couple of weeks. Krissy-I’m hoping that you are sooooooo excited about these photos that you will go into labor! Looking forward to meeting your baby boy! xoxo, marielle.

The morning light was incredible. It filtered through the windows, shined brilliantly on the flowers & the trees all around. It was as if the sun was shining & nodding with approval of the fabulous events that would take place that day. As I started taking pictures of Sari getting ready for her big day, I listened to the conversation that filled the house. There was talk about what a beautiful day it was…talk about Sari’s gorgeous dress…& there was talk about Loren. Sari would just grin ear to ear as she would talk about how she & Loren met & fell in love. I loved hearing Sari talk about the man who would soon become her husband-she talked about how proud she was of him, how much fun they have together & how excited she was to be his gorgeous bride!
As Sari walked down the aisle at St. Barnabus’ Church, that same incredible light poured through the stained glass windows. Her father walked her down the aisle and Sari’s blue eyes glistened with joy & excitement as she saw Loren for the first time. Their ceremony was personal, filled with love & personal touches. Loren’s sister sang a beautiful song & part of the ceremony was dedicated to his late father. With their hands clasped tightly & their fingers laced together, they became husband & wife. Afterwards, Sari & Loren could not stop laughing & smiling-they had finally taken the leap into marriage & they could not be any happier about it!
Their family & friends gathered together for a ultra-fabulous reception at the Oakland Yacht Club. They dined & danced the night away & as the sun slid down into the horizon, Sari & Loren’s family & friends talked about what a fabulous couple they were…what kind & generous people they are…& how Sari & Loren had touched the lives of each & every person in attendance.
Sari & Loren…thank you soooooooooo much for letting me take part in your special day-your wedding was exciting, gorgeous & you both made each & every person there feel loved. I am grateful to have been able to document your wedding & I know you will both have a fabulous & incredible life together. I hope you had a relaxing & wonderful time in Hawaii! With much love- xoxo, marielle.

Loren made me soooooooooo happy because he brought these martinis to the wedding as “props.” Way to go, Loren!

These kids were seriously so adorable. They looked like they walked straight from a Gap Kids ad!

The guys snuck away from the reception for a bit for some scotch & cigars-it made for some really fun photos!

I promised Heidi that I would put a sneak peek up from her bridal session I shot last week. Heidi & Ian are a fabulous couple & I can’t wait for their wedding next month!
