When Hadley was a newborn, I always had people telling me, “time goes by soooo quickly!” I would smile, nod & think, “whatever that means.” But now that she’s almost three years old, I know exactly what they meant. I think it’s something that you come to realize when you have kids: that time goes by sooooooo quickly. It’s fun for me to be able to document families & people to show what they are like right now. It’s especially fun to be able to photograph kids as they grow up to see how they change & how the love that their parents have for them continues to grow.

I was lucky enough to be able to photograph the sweet Free family while I was in Reno a few weeks ago. I was able to photograph them a couple of years ago & now their boys are so grown up & darling! We had a great time tromping down by the Truckee River for their shoot. The end of summer light is incredible, the family was darling & it was so much fun to spend time with their sweet family.

Such gorgeous parents!

I love this photograph! Believe me, there are a lot of days when I feel just like this!

Theirs is the comforting kind of love. Love like a warm blanket…a down feather pillow…mashed potatoes & gravy. Caitie & Alfredo take comfort in each other. They need each other. And when Alfredo wraps his arms around Caitie, you can see the comfort that she finds just in being close to him. This is a beautiful, wonderful kind of love & I was lucky enough to photograph their wedding in the Oakland Temple. We had a great time walking around the temple grounds getting to know each other better. And with every minute that I spent with them, it became more & more obvious that when Caitie & Alfredo are together, things are as perfect as can be.

There were lots of fun things that I loved about this wedding. Caitie rocked some fun blue shoes, black pearls & a gorgeous bouquet of white roses. Their reception was filled with paper lanterns (my favorite!!!!), delicious cake & a sweet ring ceremony for all their family members. It was a fabulous event with all their family & friends invited to share in the comfort & love that Caitie & Alfredo find in each other.

Caitie & Alfredo, thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer! I wish you a lifetime of comfort & love in each other…and lots & lots of banana bread! xoxo, marielle.

Here was the view as I left the reception…I love the golden hills in California!

There are a few families who I look at and think, “When I’m older, I want my family to be just like theirs.” It only took about five minutes into their session that I thought just that: I want my family to be just like theirs. Their whole family is wicked funny, up for anything & incredibly sweet. In fact, their boys carried both of my chairs for the entire session! We had a great time joking around, laughing & having a great time. And you can tell (despite their teasing & joking) that they really, truly love each other as a family. Their oldest son is leaving on a mission for our church this week to Hungary so they wanted some family photographs taken before he leaves. We had a super, super fun time & I think we got some awesome photographs.

Thank you all soooooooooo much for such a fun time! It’s been awhile since I laughed that hard at a photo shoot! I loved being able to see the love you all have for each other. And I never, ever get tired of this fabulous location or fabulous clients like you guys! Thanks again! xoxo, marielle.

I think this photograph is hilarious! I love each of their expressions…

I was lucky enough to photograph Mike & Meghan’s Lake Tahoe wedding over the weekend. The skies were perfect, the water was bright blue & love was everywhere. Can’t wait to post the rest!

If anyone knows the way to Leanne’s heart, they know it’s through her sweet dog, Nuchal. And on their first date, Matt didn’t bring Leanne flowers or chocolates to win her heart. He brought a toy for her dog. It was then that Leanne knew that Matt was a total keeper. They had been matched online at Eharmony & I have to say, they are such a great fit for each other. They make each other laugh & it didn’t take too long for them to realize that they wanted to be with each other forever. On a quick trip to Scotland for a wedding, Matt popped the question while in a botanical garden with a gorgeous sapphire ring. And Leanne didn’t even hesitate to say yes! They are getting married this year on the Cal Berkeley Campus & I feel so lucky to be part of their special day!

We had a great time wandering around Tilden Park & the Cal Berkeley Campus with their fun dog, Nuchal. Leanne & Matt love spending time in the great outdoors, fixing up their newly purchased home & just being together. Needless to say, they are simply happiest when they are together. And if anyone knows Leanne & Matt, they know what a great team they are together. They are fun, easy going & so much fun to be around! I am beyond excited to photograph their wedding in October!!! Leanne & Matt-thanks for the seriously fun engagement session! I can’t wait for your wedding… xoxo, marielle.

We headed over to the Cal Berkeley Campus to finish up their shoot…

Leanne & Matt have a darling three legged dog named Nuchal. He was so much fun to have on the shoot but by this point, I think he was pooped!
