It was a day filled with peace, from beginning to end. A day where the bride peacefully got dressed in her lovely lace gown as her groom peacefully opened the gift from his bride. It was a peaceful moment when Jen & Alan first saw each other on their wedding day-the serene feeling was palpable. I’ve been to enough weddings to observe that people’s personalities really play into their wedding-and because Jen & Alan are such peaceful, wonderful people; their wedding was exactly the same way. Every time Jen & Alan look at each other, it is obvious how happy they are with each other, how excited they are to start their lives together & how at peace they are when they are together. They were married at the lovely Hakone Gardens in Saratoga & I was thrilled to be a part of such a special day.
Every wedding I shoot is so different but I always find so many things about each wedding that I love. With Jen & Alan’s wedding, there was SO much to love! Jen had put a multitude of personal touches into their wedding-from the handmade Chuppah & Yamaka’s to the beautiful programs at the wedding which told guests about the symbolism for each part in the wedding ceremony, each detail was so lovingly put together. And when the bride is the one putting together all the details, they are even more special & meaningful. Jen wore AMAZING gold glittered shoes & Alan looked awesome in his grey suit. They were married under a cloudless sky & as they were pronounced husband & wife, they both cried tears of joy. They spent the evening dining, dancing (my favorite part of their wedding!!!!) and spending time embracing those closest to them.
Jen & Alan-I feel honored to know you both. You are the kinds of people who make everyone around you feel loved…like they are a part of your family. Thank you for trusting me with this special, meaningful day…I am grateful to have the both of you as my dear friends. Wishing you a wonderful two week honeymoon in Hawaii (lucky!!!!) and I wish you all the happiness in the world…you deserve it all and more. XOXO, marielle.
Like most of my couple this year, Jen & Alan opted to see each other before the ceremony & take photographs together. As always, it was a sweet, intimate moment with just the two of them…and I’m so happy we got these photographs!
They signed the Ketubah before the ceremony with their closest family & friends watching. It was a very sweet thing to witness…
Jen’s mother passed away a few years ago & Jen has since become very close with all of her late mother’s friends. It was such a neat thing for all of them to walk down the aisle with Jen.
Love this one…
The one on the left was taken by my wonderful second shooter, Lynn…

He knew she was “the one” from the first time they met. Jessica was working at a salon & had a boyfriend at the time. Spencer would see Jessica & make casual conversation…and Spencer patiently waited until Jessica was single to ask her out. After their first date, the rest was history. Together they appreciate each other’s ability to achieve their goals, they appreciate each other’s sense of humor & above all, they are each other’s best friend. They love playing mini golf, eating great food & spending time with their dog, Patches (who they brought along to the shoot!!) They fell in love quickly & just knew that they were meant to spend their lives together. They are getting married in Utah in August (I soooooooooo wish I was shooting their wedding!) and I was lucky enough to snag them for their engagement photographs in San Francisco.
We met up for their shoot at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco & then ended up at the beach. I loved meeting Spencer & Jessica-aren’t they soooooo beautiful together (and aren’t you obsessed with Jessica’s outfits? I know I am!) They are both fun, sweet & were so easy to work with! Here are my favorites from their shoot…

I guess you could say that it was inevitable. Meant to be. Both Ben & Brittany’s families had known each other for years. In fact, it was Ben’s mother who planned the baby shower for Brittany’s mother when she was pregnant with Brittany. Their families have been wonderful friends for years & through time Brittany & Ben fell in love. They make each other happy. They make each other laugh. And they are sooooooooooooooooo much fun to be around! Their families joined them at the Oakland Temple for their wedding & a gorgeous wedding reception in Hollister. Their wedding was a perfect reflection of Brittany & Ben-it was so much fun!
Brittany & Ben knew that their wedding day would be a little hectic since their wedding was in Oakland & their reception was in Hollister, so they opted to do a Bridal photo shoot the week before the wedding. We shot their Bridals at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco & in Chinatown. I am so glad we did their Bridal shoot because it gave us plenty of time to get some great shots of them together. The day of the wedding was filled with fun, family & even a rap song by Brittany’s maid of honor (hilarious!). I loved the sherbet pink & orange color scheme, their wedding cake with rhinestones & how easy it was to work with Brittany & Ben.
Brittany & Ben-thank you so much for everything…I loved getting to know you both through this fun experience. You are both beautiful, wonderful & genuine people who make everyone around you feel special. I feel honored to have been part of your special day! Congratulations-I know you are enjoying your Honeymoon in Mexico but thank you again for everything…you guys are the best! XOXO, marielle.
Love this one…

When I asked them about how they met, they said it wasn’t anything exciting. However, I beg to differ…simply because no matter if they met in college, on a bus or a train or even during a blind date…everyone who falls in love has an exciting story. Because it is unique-it is their story. Leilani & Kofi (or John as his family calls him) met during college, went on one date, which turned into two dates, and their love snowballed from there. With every minute they spent together, they found each other falling more & more in love. And while they didn’t meet each other while skydiving over the desert, their story is beautiful because it’s theirs.
They were married in the Oakland LDS Temple on a sunny, beautiful afternoon & I loved being there! They hired me for one hour of photography & we were able to get plenty of family formals, bride and groom and bridal party shots. I loved Leilani’s beautiful lace gown & her birdcage headpiece. Her shoes had these huge fabric flowers on the heel-they were so much fun! Kofe’s family traveled all the way from Ghana to celebrate the special day-their families were so sweet, fun & incredibly happy for the newlyweds.
Leilani & Kofe-thank you so much for choosing me to document your wedding day! I loved being able to meet you both-you are certainly a perfect match & I wish you happiness, love & lots of laughter in this new adventure together…XOXO, marielle.

I don’t think I could love this photograph any more than I do…
These are Leilani’s shoes-aren’t they fun!?!?
