It was Katy’s first day of college at UC San Diego. It was Kevin’s second year of school at UC San Diego & one of his fraternity brothers knew Katy from High School. He told Katy about a party that evening & later on, Katy bumped into Kevin at the party where they chatted for a few minutes. A few days later, Kevin bumped into Katy in the Thurgood Marshall dorms where he asked her if she wanted to grab a bite the dining hall. Katy happily agreed…and they’ve been together ever since. Katy & Kevin live in San Francisco & love spending time taking long walks across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco to Sausalito. Kevin had planned to propose during one of their walks at a particular scenic point….but he couldn’t wait any longer. He took one knee & asked Katy to be his wife & she said yes!
They love spending time with their families, occasionally trying their luck on the crabs table, traveling & cheering on their favorite sports teams. They make each other SO happy-it is so cute to see how excited they get when they talk about their relationship & their wedding. You can truly tell they are marrying their best friend. I am so excited to be a part of their wedding this summer in San Francisco at St.Dominics with their reception at The City Club. We had a great time in San Francsico & although it was downright FREEZING, they were total troopers & we had a fun time together! I was so excited to go into Fort Point for their photos that I was dying inside! The light inside was incredible & I loved being able to capture how absolutely darling Katy & Kevin are together. Here are my favorites…

Definitely my favorite…

Obsessed with this shot…even though we were totally freezing, this shot made it worth it!

He had it all planned out…he knew exactly how he was going to propose. And his plan was to re-create his first date with Carol. Three years after their first date, Carol & Derrick visited the same locations in San Francisco where they went on their first date & Derrick even wore the exact same shirt that he wore on his first date with Carol. See? I told you he had it all planned out! At the end of the date as they stood on the beach by the Golden Gate Bridge & Derrick asked Carol to be his wife. She said yes & they are planning a Spring wedding at the Oakland Temple-I’m so excited to be a part of it! Carol & Derrick have been dating long distance for the past three years. Through their trips to the airport, long phone calls & missing each other like crazy, they grew closer together & fell in love. Through their experiences, they realized that they would be there for each other no.matter.what. They are a darling couple who make each other blissfully happy.
Carol was so cute & she planned this whole picnic in the park idea-they rummaged through Derrick’s mom’s home & found candles, books and vases to set up a little picnic. I was excited because there is this tree in Piedmont that blooms for just about a week in the early Spring & I was so excited that Carol & Derrick were open to doing the shoot by the tree. It’s amazing! We had a fun time exploring & getting to know each other better. I can’t wait for their wedding in May! Here are my favorites…

I am obsessed with this photograph. And this tree.

Dear Carol: I want your shoes.

One of my favorites!

It’s true what they say, that when its right, you just know. And when you meet the person who is right for you, you feel it in your heart, in your mind & all the way down to your toes. And that’s exactly how John & Michelle have felt from early on in their relationship. They just knew. On their first date they talked for hours…and hours…and hours. They were amazed at how much they had so much in common-they both LOVED the great outdoors, snowboarding & exploring restaurants in San Francisco. The more they got to know each other, the more they realized that there was something between them that was simply amazing. They met online at eHarmony & when you see them together, they are the couple who should literally be on one of those eHarmony commercials-they are THAT CUTE in real life. It’s amazing how perfect they are for each other…it’s amazing how they interact with each other-you can truly tell that they are meant for each other.
15 months after they met, John surprised Michelle with a stay at the Ritz in Lake Tahoe. He proposed while they overlooked the snow covered Sierra mountains with a stunning ring & Michelle said yes! They are getting married this summer & I cannot wait to photograph their wedding! I shot their engagements a few months back on one of the most beautiful days in San Francisco. We had a great time & if their engagement session is any indication of how much fun their wedding will be, I’m in for a real treat! Here are my favorites from their engagements in San Francisco…

Okay…aren’t they the cutest?

I have a love for unique jewelry so I naturally loved Michelle’s amazing ring-the setting is so classy yet so unique. Love it!

I don’t think they anticipated the water coming up so quickly!

She claims that she could never give a guy a real chance until she sees how he performs on the soccer field. Lucky for Debbie, she & Jaren first met playing soccer on an indoor soccer team. And lucky for Jaren, he was pretty darn impressive with his soccer skills. They began dating, fell in love & then Jaren moved to California for a new job opportunity. They dated long distance & feel deeper in love despite the geographic distance between them.
On New Years Eve, Debbie came to visit Jaren & they decided to attend the art museum at Stanford. Jaren had one of his friends paint a painting of Jaren proposing to Debbie at the art museum & with permission, they hung the painting on the wall of the museum before Debbie & Jaren came inside. As they were admiring the different pieces of art, Jaren prompted Debbie to look at the artwork that his friend had made. And before Debbie could say anything, Jaren took a knee & asked Debbie to be his wife. She said yes & they are getting married in the Oakland Temple this spring.
We went down to Palo Alto for their engagement, wandered the Stanford Campus & the charming downtown area. I LOVE it down there-it’s so picturesque & being with Debbie & Jaren was just icing on the cake. We had a great time together & I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in a few months.
Oh and P.S. Debbie-if you ever don’t want any clothes in your darling wardrobe, CALL ME.
Love this one SO MUCH…

I climbed a tree for this photo…it was quite a sight to see me dramatically get up the tree (with Jaren’s help). Love how they turned out, though!

It had been six months since they had seen each other. Tiffany had been living in New York serving a mission for her church & after completing her mission, she came home to California for about 6 months. After coming home, she thought it would be fun to visit New York again. She flew to New York & decided to go see her old friends at church. When she arrived at church, David instantly recognized her. They talked & David was shocked to find that suitors weren’t knocking down her door…and then he blurted out, “I would marry you!!” Tiffany questioned if this was a real proposal and David said, “Absolutely. Will you marry me?” She said, “Yes, but I need a ring.” They joked about getting married as they parted ways & went on dates with other people. A few months later, Tiffany made another surprise visit to New York. Once again, she ran into David but this time it was at a wedding reception. They spent the night dancing together & having a great time. Again they joked about getting married & again Tiffany joked that she needed a ring.
So David came to California to see Tiffany…and to propose for real with a real ring! As they explored Tilden Park together, David asked Tiffany if she would take his picture. Tiffany grabbed the camera, started taking the photograph as David dropped to one knee with a ring in hand. She fell to her knees (after taking his photo!) and said yes! They are SUCH a fun couple & you can tell how in love they are by the huge smiles on their faces. They are getting married in the Oakland Temple in a few months & although I won’t be able to photograph their wedding, I feel so lucky to have been able to document this fun time in their lives!
We explored Caesar Chavez park in Emeryville…and all I have to say is that I LOVE California all year round but especially in January & February when the grass is neon green & the flowers are blooming! Here are my favorites…

I love the setting on Tiffany’s ring! Nice work, David!!
