It all began amidst a group of college aged kids at a Halloween party. And it wasn’t just any Halloween party- it was my Halloween party! Amidst a sea of girls dressed as glittery wood sprites & guys dressed up as cavemen, Mike & Meagan spotted each other & began talking. And since that time, they haven’t been apart. They are such a darling couple & such a good match for each other. They married & had the most adorable boy EVER. They love to spend time together, travel to the Bay Area (woo woo!) & they are HUGE Oakland A’s fans…needless to say, the Johnsons are awesome people!

The Johnson’s were the second winners of my photo shoot giveaway that I held a few months ago. To refresh your memory, here is what Mike said in his entry…

My family and I would love to have a photo session with you. You know every thing that Meagan has gone through with her cancer and we have not had family portraits since her hair has come back. We were actually just down in San Francisco yesterday and tuesday to have her follow up scans from the radiation that she had in Dec. The scans turned out great, which we obviously are very excited about. She has been after me for some time to get family pics done and I have just been pushing it off. Either because of bad timing or I had a zit. And my face is clear for now so I might as well do it. But the real reason is I love my family very much and I would do anything for Meagan. She has gone through so much and I could only stand back and watch. Sure I rubbed her back when she was sore and stood by her side when she was sick, but I never really knew what she was going through. I know this is something very small compared to what she has gone through, but I also know it is something she would love to do. Hopefully you’ll think about us.”

They have gone through a tremendous amount together & stayed strong through it all. They are such an inspiration to me & such wonderful, fabulous people who I’m lucky enough to say I know. I’m so grateful to have met up with them for this photo shoot-we had a lot of fun & it turns out that their son Brayden is my new BFF. Seriously-he was the easiest little boy that I’ve EVER photographed! Thanks so much, you guys for being so awesome! I can’t wait to hang out with you guys at an A’s game sometime soon! xoxo, marielle.

I knew this was going to be a fabulous session when this was the first photograph I shot…

Love this one. Looooooove.

I love Brayden. I asked him to show me some of his baseball moves & this is what he showed me. Soooooooo adorable. Look at how serious he is! :)

Which one is your favorite?!?!

There are a lot of things that I love. And in my very humble opinion, I think that some of the best things in life are: Fridays, leather boots & babies. So how fabulous is it that I’m posting baby photographs on a Friday while I’m wearing my favorite leather boots? Very fabulous, very fabulous indeed!

I was so lucky to be able to photograph sweet baby Ellie who was just two weeks old for her photos! What a sweet, precious & darling baby she is! It was an especially fun shoot for me because Ellie’s mother is friends with one of my favorite brides, Evelyn-who also came along for the photo shoot! It was a lot of fun to see how sweet of a baby Ellie is-she was so alert & so good for the whole shoot! I love seeing how new mothers are with their babies-it’s such a surreal, amazing thing to have a newborn to call your own & I loved being able to witness such a wonderful thing. Thank you, Holly for letting me capture your incredibly beautiful baby!

Happy Friday to everyone! Now, onto little Ellie’s debut!

Hello, Seattle.

Seattle is a fun city & I was lucky enough to make a day trip up for Kelly & Chad’s engagements in May. While I was driving towards downtown for their engagement shoot, I turned on the radio & Owl City’s, “Hello, Seattle” was playing. So I did what I normally do when awesome songs play on the radio at the perfect time…I blasted the radio, rolled down the windows & sang at the top of my lungs. Call me crazy but it was fabulous.

I just realized that I haven’t posted any of my personal photographs from my trip! So here are just a few of my favorites…

I am going to be honest here. Like really honest. I think I live in one of the most under-rated cities in America. I have lived here for almost five years & there are so, sooooooo many things I love about living here. I love the fact that San Francisco is just a short drive away. I love that within 10 miles of our home, there are over 6,500 amazing restaurants (which really plays in my favor since I hate cooking), I love the people, the foggy mornings, the saxophone music by the BART stations, the Oakland A’s, Arizmendi pizza, Ici Ice Cream, the art, the Trader Joes just down the street from my house…everything! I am happy to say that “I Hella <3 Oakand.” And if you lived here, I think you’d hella <3 it too.

I had a fun little photo excursion to downtown Oakland with two of my favorite gal pals the other evening & we took some fun photographs. Downtown Oakland is filled with awesome  color, Art Deco Architecture & my favorite, favorite cathedral everrrrr, The Cathedral of Christ the Light. The architecture of the cathedral is literally mind-blowing. Seriously-someone please (pretty, pretty please) get married there & hire me as your photographer-I’d be in heaven! Enough rambling-here are my favorites from our quick little jaunt to downtown…

What things do you hella <3 about where you live? Spill the beans!

The Cathedral of Christ the Light is so amazing. The architecture blows my mind…
