Neither of them wanted to hang out with their friends that night. After all, Evelyn had just put in a 12 hr shift at work & Dave was beyond ready to go to sleep. Somehow, as most friends do, they convinced them to go out for a night of fun. As Evelyn & her friends were waiting for everyone to arrive, Dave approached them & introduced himself; chit chatting & small talking until the rest of his friends showed up. The night evolved & the group went dancing & then ended the night at a local taqueria. By the end of the night it was obvious. Dave & Evelyn were totally into each other & although they had not wanted to hang out with their friends at the beginning of the evening, they were soooooo glad that they did! As they parted ways for the night, Dave asked Evelyn for her number. He called her the next day & they’ve been together ever since. And that’s how their story began…
Early into their relationship, Dave received a job offer where that sent him all the way from Texas to California. Although he & Evelyn were far apart from each other, they would spend every night on the phone, getting to know each other better, confiding in each other & ultimately falling head over heels in love. Evelyn ended up moving out to the coast & their relationship has grown stronger & stronger ever since. 7 years after they met, on a relaxing vacation in Maui, Dave popped the question to Evelyn. She said yes & they’ve never been happier.
I loved meeting up with Dave & Evelyn for their engagements. We had a fabulous time tromping through the fields behind the Legion of Honor for their photographs. I instantly knew I would get along with them-they are fun, easy going & just such wonderful people. Dave & I share the same obsession with sugary candy…Evelyn & I share the same love for BCBG dresses & metallic flats. I loved, LOVED this shoot & I can’t wait for their beautiful wedding at the end of this month!

I love how Dave makes Evelyn laugh…

Evelyn, you are beyond gorgeous!

Can you say bling? Seriously nice work on the ring, Dave!

It all started with his car. Yes, his car. Luke’s gorgeous, midnight blue mustang GT. It pulled up into the 7-11 parking lot where Nicole & her friends were hanging out & that’s where it all started. Nicole approached Luke & asked, “Can I have your car?” He smiled his sweet smile & offered to give Nicole & her friends a ride in his car. And that’s how it all began.
Their relationship began just as friends & morphed into something wonderful. Something incredible. Something that without a doubt will last forever. Nicole & Luke have literally seen each other through life’s unexpected challenges & made it through as a team. If it’s going out for a night on the town or simply playing a game of Mario Kart, Nicole & Luke have the most fun when they are together. Because, quite frankly, there is no Nicole without Luke. And there is no Luke without Nicole. And yes, it’s as simple & as fabulous as that.
I had the pleasure of photographing their engagements at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco. We had so much fun & I loved being able to see how sweet & kind they are to each other. They speak sweetly to each other, they care for each other & they are without a doubt each other’s best friend. Nicole & Luke were the winners of my February giveaway. If you haven’t read their amazing story, check it out here & bring some tissues when you read their incredible journey that they have gone through together.
Nicole & Luke, I had such a fun, fabulous time with the two of you! I am so grateful to have had the change to spend time with you & document your special love for each other! I can’t wait for your wedding! With much appreciation…xoxo, marielle.

You could say that he had a thing for that the girl next door. Because, quite literally, Tiffany was the girl next door in Jesus’ (or Chuy-as his friends call him) neighborhood. She was the new girl, ready to start the 7th grade, full of hopes & dreams that she would make friends & like her new school. Never in her wildest dreams would she have thought that this was the year that she would meet the man who would make her the happiest girl in the world.
This is their story…
It was a hot August day when Tiffany & Chuy met. Tiffany’s mom was checking on the progress of their new home & insisted that she & Tiffany get to know some of their soon-to-be neighbors. Tiffany was reluctant to do so because….well, any 7th grader is reluctant to do something their parents tell them to do! Tiffany’s insisting mom was able to successfully drag Tiffany along to knock on the neighbor’s door. They were invited inside to sit & enjoy the cool breeze from the air conditioning. The sliding door opened into the living room & there.he.was. Chuy stood there in his yardwork clothes, his jeans, a baseball hat & a white shirt. And for the first time, Tiffany thanked her lucky stars that her mother was soooooo insisting! Chuy grabbed a cool soda for Tiffany & as they say, the rest is history. They spent their years together in high school, growing & experiencing life together & ultimately falling head over heels in love.
Tiffany & Chuy-you are such a fabulous couple. I love your sense of adventure & your fun personalities! I had a blast shooting your engagement session at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco-you both worked it! Thanks for being so much fun to work with! I am sooooooooooo looking forward to being your photographer for your gorgeous wedding next year! If your engagement session is any indication of what your wedding will be like, I know it will be filled with love, laughter & lots of fun. xoxo, marielle.
