The maple leaves turned bright red as the light danced through them. The grounds of the Oakland Temple buzzed with anticipation and excitement. Anxious family members sat outside the doors of the temple, waiting for Lydia & Justin to emerge as husband and wife. As the doors opened, there stood a beaming couple whose adventure as husband and wife had just begun. With his arm on the small of her back, they threw their heads back in laughter and spent the day beaming from ear to ear. Their wedding celebration was timeless-Lydia in her flowing wedding gown and Justin in his tux and bow tie. The day was filled with laughter, love, lots and lots of amazing food, a ring ceremony under an Oak tree and a reception under the autumn stars. The beginning of their life together started with such a gorgeous day & I was so lucky to be able to capture the beauty of it all.
Something I loved about their wedding was how they incorporated friends and family members into the excitement. They had a good friend mixing alcohol-free beverages during the reception, her father made some of the food for the reception, Lydia’s sister made cookies (their family is filled with amazing chefs!), a friend made the cake and Lydia’s mother even made the sleeves for her wedding gown. I love how weddings are a time for friends and family to come together and show their love by contributing their talents. The reception was held at a family friend’s home and it was a perfect evening to top off an incredible day.
Lydia & Justin! My new friends! Your wedding was as beautiful, classy and fun as the two of you! I hope that in the future we can spend time together & that (fingers crossed) you guys can make me some dinner :). Lots of love and well wishes! XOXO, marielle.
