The light streamed through the window of the quiet cottage where Sara was getting ready. Her mother and her sister watched in awe as the already beautiful Sara turned into the even more beautiful bride. The day she had dreamed about for years was finally here. It was this day that she would marry the one she loved more than anything in the world. Outside, Greg waited for Sara and with tears in his eyes, he opened a gift from her…a binder that contained every card that they had exchanged over the course of their relationship. As Greg and Sara saw each other for the first time on their wedding day, there weren’t two people in the world who were happier than they were at that moment.
I met Sara a few years ago when I photographed her friend’s wedding. I remember meeting Sara (who was one of the bridesmaids at the wedding) and she was so sweet and kind. I was so thrilled when she contacted me when she got engaged! I knew her wedding would be beautiful and that she would be a wonderful person to work with. Sara spent hours making every last detail of her wedding perfect. She and Greg grew all of the succulents that were part of the centerpieces and favors, they made cute coloring books for all the children at the wedding and Sara even made a little cake the night before their wedding! Every detail was impeccable throughout the entire day. However, what struck me the most was how palpable the feeling of happiness and joy was at their wedding. Sara and Greg were truly, completely happy to be husband and wife…and their families and friends were truly happy to help them celebrate their special day.
