She first heard about him from her friends. Laura & her girlfriends were all in the car, driving on their way to pick Dave up for a camping trip with a group of friends. On the drive, her friends chatted about Dave. They talked about how fun he was, how he was such a great guy & as they talked more & more about Dave, Laura perked up. He did sound pretty fun & pretty incredible from what her friends had said. During the two week trip, Laura & Dave were able to spend time together…they spent time talking & getting to know each other better. At the end of the trip, they realized that there was something there. Laura’s girlfriends were right: there was something about Dave. When they returned back home, they went on their first official date & their relationship blossomed from there. Their relationship continued to blossom & over time they realized that they didn’t want to be with anyone else! They are getting married next month & I’m so excited to be a part of their celebration! Let me rephrase that-I am BEYOND excited to be part of their celebration!
Laura & Dave are dynamic. Adventurous. Free spirited. Easy going. And totally head-over-heels in LOVE. They love to pack up their bar-b-que, head out to the desert & watch the sunset together. They love gardening, driving their beach cruisers around & just being together. Simply put, they are the happiest when they are together, no matter what they are doing. When I met up with them for their engagement session, I asked Laura & Dave what they love about each other. Laura gave the most sincere, sweetest response ever. She said, “I never thought I would ever find anyone who was perfect. But Dave is so perfect at everything & so perfect for me.” When you talk to Laura about Dave, her eyes literally twinkle. She smiles all the way down to her toes. And when Laura talks, Dave is peaceful & happy. It’s obvious that they are two of a kind & that they are just meant to be together.
Laura & Dave-thank you so much for coming out to San Francisco for these photographs! I had so much fun getting to know you both! I can’t wait for your wedding day-if it’s anything like the two of you, I know it will be a celebration filled with fun, laughter & a lot of fabulousness….xoxo, marielle.

This photograph might be one of my favorites EVER. It makes me sooooooo happy. I love it!

Rawr.

These two are some of my favorites from their session. Laura, you are amazingly gorgeous!

Which one is your favorite? I’d love to hear about it!
Their story began all the way across the globe. In fact, their story began on a backpacking trip through Europe. They were part of a group of friends who explored Europe for five whole weeks (um, can you say luckyyyyyyyyy???). In the beginning of the trip, Jackie & George saw each other as friends, friends who simply loved being around each other. Friends who had so much in common. They were friends who eventually fell head over heels for each other. As the weeks passed, their feelings for each other grew & they both noticed what everyone else sees when they meet them:that they are a perfect, perfect pair.
From the instant that I met Jackie & George, I knew that I was going to looooooooove working with them. Maybe it was the fact that I felt like Jackie & I had been friends for like ever. Maybe it was George’s laugh. Maybe it was their laid back, easy-going, totally in love spirits that made me giddy & excited to work with them. Whatever it was, I was right in thinking that I would love working with them & getting to know them better! They are fabulous, fun people who are kind & super genuine!
We ended up shooting their engagement photographs just two days before their wedding & we had a blast! We headed over to the Cal Berkeley Campus which was filled with yummy light & awesome backdrops. Now, on to the photographs!

I LOVE these photographs! When I got home & looked at these photos, I literally laughed out loud…soooo cute!

Which one is your favorite???
From the very first time that I met Mike & Meghan, it was very clear to me. I knew almost in an instant that they were a fun, energetic couple who were majorly in love. Almost 9 months later, as I sat in their living room, I looked around the room & noticed a worn rugby ball, a set of two guitar hero guitars, as well as multiple photographs of Mike & Meghan traveling all over the world. Once again, it became very clear to me. Truly this is a couple who loves to have fun together, loves joking with each other & especially loves spending time with each other. Whether they are traveling the globe together or trying a new restaurant in San Francisco, they are no doubt enjoying each other’s company & having a fabulous time together.
Mike & Meghan go waaaaaaay back to High School. They had similar friends and over the course of time, their friendship turned to love. With Meghan in college & Mike still in High School, they spent countless hours traveling back & forth, making sure they could see each other on the weekends. After awhile, they both moved to Davis & were so happy to live in the same city again! It didn’t take them long to realize that they not only wanted to spend all their time together…that they wanted to spend their lives together. Mike proposed to Meghan with a knockout ring & she said yes!
We had a blast driving through San Francisco to places that were special to Mike & Meghan. The lighting was fabulous, the locations were awesome & Mike & Meghan were so, SO much fun to work with! They are tying the knot in August at Lake Tahoe & I feel so lucky to be able to document this exciting time in their lives! They are a fun, outgoing couple who are so down to earth & I know their wedding will be just like them!
Mike & Meghan: I loooooove you guys. I can’t wait for your wedding! Thanks for being so awesome & so gosh darn easy to photograph. I literally am counting down the days until your wedding because I know it will be amazing! Thanks again for everything! You guys rock my socks! xoxo, marielle.

We headed over to Swensen’s Ice Cream for some fun photographs…

Probably my favorite from their session…

It’s in the way they look at each other. It’s in the way that he quietly drapes his jacket over her shoulders when she is cold. It’s in the way her eyes light up when he looks at her. It’s the way that they laugh & joke with each other. When you see Chad & Kelly together, you just know that they are perfect for each other. They are truly, deeply in love & it shows in every word & in every action in Chad & Kelly’s lives. In essence, Kelly is the biscuits to Chad’s gravy. And that’s what they call themselves. Biscuits & gravy. They are without a doubt a very perfect match! Here is their story…
When Kelly first transferred to Georgetown Law in the fall of 2005, her friend kept telling her that she had to meet his friend Chad, who he claimed was, “the best looking guy in DC.” About a year later, Kelly met Chad & she agreed with her friend-Chad really was the best looking guy in D.C! They spent a few years as friends until one summer, Chad asked Kelly to be his date for a wedding in Hawaii. She said yes, booked her flight & they have been together ever since. They managed to keep a long distance relationship going until recently when Chad moved to Seattle with Kelly & they are both SO HAPPY to be living in the same city!!!! They are a fun, adventurous couple with a passion for traveling (they are in the Dominican Republic as we speak…), trying new foods, attending sporting events & just being together.
I was lucky enough to fly up to Seattle to shoot Chad & Kelly’s engagement session. It was a gorgeous day in Seattle-we were lucky enough to have no rain the entire shoot! We all went to dinner together afterwards & as we ate some delicious pizza, the rain POURED outside. We were so lucky to have no rain for the photos!
Chad & Kelly, thank you SO MUCH for the amazing session! You are both such sweet & amazing people & I can’t wait to be part of your wedding festivities in October! I know without a doubt that your wedding will be a true reflection of who you are-fun, classy & simply incredible…Just like biscuits & gravy.
I am happy to know that you have found each other & I’m counting down the days until your wedding…xoxo, marielle.
We started out the shoot on their rooftop where Chad asked Kelly to marry him! Here’s the killer view….

I think this is my favorite from their shoot….

When Chad & Kelly attend weddings, Chad usually takes off his tie & Kelly puts it on her head while they work the dance floor. They wanted a photo of them doing their thing so here it is!!!

My second favorite photograph from their shoot…
